The Mane Event - Horsebox Photobooth
“Hello and thank you for visiting The Horsebox Photobooth website! Our journey began in 2024 while planning our very own wedding. We were searching for something unique, stylish, and fun—but nothing felt quite right. So, in a moment of madness we decided to create it ourselves!
We found an old Richardson Horsebox on marketplace which had been neglected for some years. And after a worryingly short time of consideration we bought it from the owner and nervously towed it home. This is where the hard work really began! The trailer was old and worn. It required new axles, suspension, wheels, coupling, brakes… you name it, it needed it! Over the first half of 2024 we got to work and started doing all the work needed to bring a new lease of life to the trailer. See below many pictures of the transformation!
After depleting our finances in the year before our wedding (not our brightest idea) we finally had what looked to be a viable Horsebox Photobooth. It was vintage but modern, and looked and worked exactly how we wanted it to. We tested it many times with family and friends before attending our first wedding fayre in October, and we were extremely relieved and excited when guests visited with their friends and family, took pictures and came out with big smiles and compliments. We even got our first bookings for weddings through 2025 and 2026!
We then officially debuted our custom-built horsebox photobooth at our wedding at Horton Grange Country Hotel, and it was an absolute hit with our guests. The laughter, memories, and fun it brought gave us the confidence that we needed to keep going and share the experience with others.
Now, we’re delighted to offer our photobooth to couples like you looking to add something special to their big day. We truly hope it brings as much joy to your celebration as it did to ours.
If you have any questions or would like to know more, we’d love to hear from you!” - Mr & Mrs Hudson
What we started with
As I said, this was a preloved trailer that needed more work than I originally cared to admit!
Horsebox used to be blue!
The chassis was a bit rusty!
The wheel drums are not looking so great
The jockey wheel has seen better days
Rusty axles are ready to retire
How did this wheel stay on?
Inside the horse box
The tow coupling sort of worked!
The renovation begins!
Over about 5 to 6 months in 2024 this is when the hard work began bringing this trailer back to life.
Riveting the sides back together
Fitting a new tow coupling
Chassis refreshed and new axles
New brake system
Solid floor put in
Roof painted
Batons for the cladding
Cladding and electrics
And the start of painting
Electrics done, new floor and wallpaper
Say bye to the blue! Fresh paint
New wheels and mud guards
Starting to come together now

First run out since the renovation
Heading home after successful run out
Building a photobooth!
There are ready made photobooths available to purchase but we set out to build our own. Also, many photobooths use the camera on the tablet and this wasn’t right for us. We wanted the best quality pictures for our prints so our photobooth has a professional Canon EOS R100. This is our first booth build and we love it!
Booth beginnings
Edging added
Gold framing added
First test with the computer
Really coming together now!
